SM Langdistanz

Etter 5 dager i Bern var det duket for min første konkurranse som Bern`er, SM langdistanse med start og mål i den lille landsbyen Les Prés d`Orvin nordøst i Jurafjellene. Selv om resultatet ikke ble som jeg hadde ønsket, fikk jeg mange gode tilbakemeldinger på hvor jeg ligger an i slikt terreng og hva jeg må jobbe med videre. Og muligheten for å jobbe videre er god ettersom de neste 9 månedene skal tilbringes i Sveits sin hovedstad Bern, kun en times kjøring fra neste års VM-by Lausanne. Les mer //

No success in France

The WOC selection races in France was no success for me. I did too many mistakes to get the results and the feeling I was hoping for. My goal was to rock the rocks, but I felt more like being rocked out by the rocks. Les mer //

Ready to rock the rocks!

Tomorrow it is time for the first WOC selection race, a short (60min?) long distance competition. It will be held on a brand new map, “Pré-poulain” (1:15000) close to the very interesting terrain “Montagne de Bange”. Montagne de Bange is one of the most difficult terrains in which have run orienteering, so tomorrows race will definitely be a challenge. Les mer //

Tiomila – mission failed

Before Tiomila I wrote this (but couldn´t post it because of a technical error):

An unvictorious routechoice

I guess all orienteers have experienced a bad routechoice. Often you discover the mistake while running (and gets really frustrated by your mistake, and the fact that you can`t do nothing to change your decision). But sometimes a detailed study of map and split times  is needed to discover the mistake. Yesterday I experienced the last option on the 18th control (see map without routechoice below – where would you run? Is it obvious?). There I also lost (definately) in the fight for the race victory. Les mer //

Tredjeplass i “Stoltzen” – klar for WC-finale

På lørdag gikk Bergens tradisjonsrike motbakkeløp Stoltzekleiven Opp av stabelen. Olav, Mari og jeg var invitert av Varegg til å delta, og vi tok naturligvis imot utfordringen. Med skiløperne Oddbjørn Hjelmeseth, Kristen Skjeldal og Sjur Røthe på startstreken var det lagt opp til en fin duell mellom langrenn og orientering; og vi ønsket å vise at O-løpere har krutt i beina…  Les mer //
